Vibration Monitor uses LED indicators to lower risk.

Press Release Summary:

Model VS1 detects both under- and over-vibration conditions. Weighing only 12 oz, unit adds little mass to machine vibration being measured to improve sensing accuracy. Monitor has cast-aluminum NEMA 4x enclosure. Range of vibration velocities can be adjusted from 0.10 to 2.20 in./sec rms, with set-point delay that can be adjusted from 1 to 10 sec to prevent false trips. Unit detects velocities in frequency band from 10 to 1,000 Hz.

VS1 Vibration Monitor Features LED Read-Outs

MINNEAPOLIS - The new VS1 vibration monitor from Electro-Sensors
minimizes the risk of catastrophic equipment failure and expensive shutdowns by detecting both under- and over-vibration conditions that could signal trouble. Small, light and economical, the new VS1 also features exclusive LED indicators that tell operators at a glance if a machine needs attention or preventative maintenance. The VS1 is ideal for safeguarding fans, blowers, crushers, compressors, chillers, mixers, large motors, gearboxes, turbines, conveyors, pumps, blenders, reciprocating engines and vibratory conveyors.

"The capability of sensing under-vibration as well as over-vibration allows operators to create an alarm condition for either excessive vibration - which may indicate wear - or under-vibration - which may indicate the machine has stopped working," says Kris Paxton, an Electro-Sensors design engineer. "The under-vibration mode is particularly useful in applications such as vibratory conveyor systems where the correct amount of vibration is important for proper machine operation."

Paxton says that at only 12 ounces, the VS1's light weight adds little mass to the machine vibration being measured and therefore improves sensing accuracy. The small size (4.0" x 2.6" x 1.6") cast aluminum NEMA 4X enclosure allows it to fit in smaller spaces than existing vibration monitors.

The VS1 features an adjustable relay set-point that can be used for machine shutdown or operator warning. The range of vibration velocities can be adjusted from 0.10 to 2.20 inches per second rms, with a set-point delay that can be adjusted from 1 to 10 seconds to prevent false trips. The unit detects velocities in a frequency band from 10 Hz to 1,000 Hz. The alarm relay is a SPDT type rated at 5A, 30 Vdc, and 5A, 250 Vac. Power requirements are 24 Vdc at 30 ma. The three LEDs indicate Power (on), Vibration (normal), and Alarm (under- or over-vibration).
