Vibration Isolators protect embedded PC/104 electronics.

Press Release Summary:

Shock Rocks(TM), made of 59-durometer Silastic® silicone rubber material, reduce g-force frequencies on 3 axes by up to a factor of 10. Designed to attach to outside perimeter of 4 x 4 in. PC/104 railed card cage, Shock Rocks isolate all points of contact between removable aluminum card cage and surrounding enclosure, eliminating need for PCB standoffs/spacers. Up to 14 PC/104 modules can be securely held in shock/vibration-dampened card cage.

parvus Offers Superior Shock and Vibration Isolators for Embedded PC/104 Computer Systems

Shock Rocks(TM) Increase Reliability and Extend Component Life of PC/104 Electronics in Mobile, Vehicular and other High Shock/Vibration Environments

SALT LAKE CITY - February 12, 2003 - parvus Corporation today unveiled its PC/104 Shock Rocks(TM) line of shock and vibration mitigation products, especially designed to enhance the durability of embedded PC/104 computer systems that undergo mechanical stress. Unit pricing is $10 each.

Made of 59 durometer Silastic® silicone rubber material, these compact shock isolators successfully reduce G-force frequencies on three axis by up to a factor of 10, making them well suited for a wide variety of mobile, airborne, shipboard, space, and other demanding applications common to the aerospace, defense, medical and transportation fields. In fact, Shock Rocks have been implemented in a variety of parvus' PC/104 systems integration projects for the military that require MIL-STD-810 survivability.

Designed to attach to the outside perimeter of a 4" x 4" PC/104 Railed Card Cage, Shock Rocks isolate all points of contact between a removable aluminum card cage and its surrounding enclosure. Mounting PC/104 modules within a card cage in this way eliminates the need for traditional PCB standoffs/spacers and provides a much simpler board removal method over PC/104 containers using compression-mounted rubber rails.

Depending on the size of the PC/104 card cage, typically eight to twelve Shock Rocks are attached. Up to 14 PC/104 modules can be securely held in a shock/vibration-dampened Railed Card Cage (available in 4.0", 6.0", 8.0" and 12.0" lengths) and placed within one of several parvus enclosures, including its
5"x 5" Extruded Aluminum Enclosure, ARINC 404A 3/4 ATR (Air Transport Rack) chassis, and Quarter Turn Dzus Rail Mount Enclosure. Packaging PC/104 systems in such a configuration can provide a NEMA 4x environmental protection together with significant shock/vibration tolerance.
