GRAND RAPIDS, MICHIGAN - viastore systems, a leading automated material handling and supply chain execution software solutions provider, was awarded a case sequencing and palletizing system by JBS.
With 140 production facilities worldwide and over 120,000 employees, JBS is the largest animal protein processor in the world.
JBS needed to increase production rates at their Tolleson, AZ production plant. They weren't using any automation to palletize and sequence product so labor costs were high. JBS evaluated a fully automated solution but opted for a semi automated conveyor and palletizing solution which saves costs, has a quicker installation and is a proven solution for JBS.
viastore was well suited for this project due to creativity in design, which drove down costs, as well as the ability and expertise to provide a robust system capable of handling the 100 lb. boxes of beef. viastore has many years of experience in the meat industry and understands the special requirements needed to make an automated solution a success.
Hanging stainless steel conveyor moves cases out of production and into the distribution center where different cuts of beef are diverted two ways onto 1 of the 26 accumulation lanes from just one sorter for buffering. When a lane becomes full it is released to 1 of 2 automatic palletizers. Full pallets are then wrapped and conveyed to the cooler for storage.
