Vertical Machining Center offers digital control.

Press Release Summary:

VMC-500 digital vector spindle drive provides constant high torque at low rpms and maintains high acc/dec rates. Its self-cooled, brushless motor outputs up to 17 hp, 12 hp continuous (9kW). Maintenance-free linear guideways reduce stick-slip, and allow accurate positioning. Siemens Acramatic A2100 CNC with touch screen and handheld pendant controls functions and operates on Windows NT platform. Interface runs CAD/CAM, SPC, and other programs.

Original Press Release:

New Arrow Series VMC-500 Delivers Big Performance Through Exclusive Ultimate Performance Technology

The new Cincinnati Machine Arrow Series VMC-500 vertical machining center features the exclusive Ultimiate Performance technology, the most affordable technology for the life-of-the-machine-tool investment. The all-new Cincinnati Machine performance package, including digital vector servos, state-of-the-art Profibus I/O interface technology and maintenance-free guideways, puts Ultimate Performance technology to work for you.

The Arrow Series VMC-500's digital vector spindle drive system eliminates the need for a gearbox, while providing high torque at low rpms. The self-cooled, brushless
motor allows owners to operate at a wide range of power up to 17 Hp Max, 12 Hp continuous (9 kW).

The drive system provides constant torque output regardless of load, maintaining high acc/dec rates throughout the speed range. Full torque is available at zero speed. Maintenance-free linear guideways, with sliding friction as low as 1150th of
conventional guideways, reduce stick-slip for accurate positioning and high-definition milling at high feed rates.

The fast, powerful Acramatic A2100 CNC from Siemens is standard on the Arrow Series VMC-500. Operating on a Windows NT platform, the A2100 provides a user-friendly system with the most comprehensive specification available today. A touchscreen control and handheld pendant place the control functions at the operator's fingertips, reducing setup time.

The standard third-party interface allows the use of proprietary software, such as CAD/CAM systems and SPC programs to run on the control. This open-architecture system, which is based on a true PC platform, offers unrivalled communication capabilities.

Cincinnati Machine is a leading global manufacturer and supplier of CNC machine tools, such as turning centers, vertical machining centers, horizontal machining centers/cells, 5-axis machining centers, universal machining centers, profilers, routers and composite processing equipment. Additionally, Cincinnati PLUSs" provides the most comprehensive package of service and support available in the industry today. Industries
