Vertical C-Clamp Machines have 130- and 280-ton capacities.

Press Release Summary:

Magna V vertical injection molding machines (IMMs), based on C-frame platform, measure 15 x 7 ft. Vertical IMMs are available in stationary, shuttle, or rotary table versions. With 3-sided access, units provide tandem variable volume and fixed-volume pump systems, infrared light curtain, and XTREEM PC-based, open-architecture control. Units have maximum daylight of 35 in. and accept molds up to 24 x 36 in. (2-station). They suit insert, over-molding, and multi-component applications.

Milacron Introduces Higher Tonnage Versions of Its Flexible, Small-Footprint Magna V Vertical Insert IMMs

Vertical C-Clamp machines now available in 130- and 280-ton versions for larger insert, over-molding and multi-component applications

CINCINNATI, OHIO, November 2002 - Milacron is taking vertical insert molding to new heights by adding new 130- and 280-ton versions to its line of compact Magna V vertical injection molding machines. The Magna V line now includes five tonnage sizes from 30 to 280 tons for insert molding, overmolding and multi-component molding in a wide variety of industries. Magna V machines, based on proven C-frame platform, are designed to take up minimal floorspace, while providing maximum mold access and safe, user-friendly operation without bulky guarding.

The Magna V 280 version measures only 15 x 7 ft., which is less than half the footprint of comparable tie-bar machines. Magna V machines are true vertical IMMs, not a machine with a conventional horizontal tie-bar clamp on-end. They are available in stationary, shuttle or rotary table versions. The standard two-station rotary table provides option for two-station oscillation and can have up to four lower halves.

Innovative C-frame design has no obstructions from tie bars around the mold area, so it is much more accessible and requires no hard guarding. The Magna V's three-sided-access design provides ample upper-mold openness and mold space, allowing processors to use larger tooling, streamline mold handling and have easier access to mold cooling and electrical connections.

A tandem variable volume and fixed-volume pump system eliminates need for an accumulator and provides faster clamping, tonnage adjustability, and unlimited flow for ejection sequences, core pulls and auxiliary functions.

The Magna V 280 model has maximum daylight of 35 in. and can accept molds to 24 x 36 in. (two station). The 130 version has a maximum daylight of 25 in., and can accept molds to 16 x 23 in.

The ergonomic Magna V is engineered for maximum operator friendliness. A standard infrared light curtain mounted around the perimeter of the table immediately stops table motion if the light curtain is breached. This reduces obstructive guarding and allows fast single-button start. A machine-mounted operator station can be located in several positions around the table, freeing-up floor space. The open area under the table gives operators the option to sit or stand at the machine. Low table height and minimized distance from mold center to table edge reduces fatigue due to reaching over a large table area, while the raised electrical cabinet can be easily accessed for maintenance.

All Magna V machines come standard with Milacron's patented XTREEM PC-based control. The open-architecture control offers Ethernet networking, floppy disk drive, multiple languages, and full-color user-configurable SPLIT SCREENS(TM). Its Windows® NT operating system allows Internet access and a host of other capabilities that PC users take for granted. Digital operation eliminates RF/EMI interference and optimizes accuracy and repeatability.

In addition to the Magna V line, CH-model vertical insert machines are also available in four sizes from 150 to 300 tons.
