Vertical Assembly Platforms Ideal for Electrical Transformer Assembly
(Niagara Falls, NY February 26, 2003) Assembling large electrical transformers is a mammoth task for workers, but Handling Specialty offers a solution that can make the job easier. Specifically, winding wire around a central core can be done vertically through use of a moving assembly platform. The advantage of this type of platform is that it moves workers and their materials relative to the product. Full perimeter access, at any elevation that is ergonomically comfortable for the workers, is possible. Handling Specialty vertical assembly platforms have also been successfully applied to the assembly / repair of turbine engines, compressor rotors, copper coils, large chillers, etc.
This unique design uses a self-locking acme screw jack system. The four screw drives, one at each corner, are mechanically linked through the platform to ensure perfect synchronization and 100% level lifting. Platform sizes are available up to 1,000 sq. ft., rises to 30 ft., and capacities to 250,000 lbs. Each platform can be customized to match the size requirements of the product(s). Various options can also be incorporated including cable reels, removeable guard rails, full perimeter safety touch bars, stairs to suit, utilities access, auto-lube features, etc.
