Verizon Wireless Gives Columbia Customers Access to High-Speed Wireless Internet, E-Mail and Mobile Music

COLUMBIA, S.C., Oct. 13 // -- Building on its successful strategy to provide customers superior wireless services in the Palmetto state, Verizon Wireless Region President Jerry Fountain today announced the launch of the company's Evolution-Data Optimized (EV-DO) network in Columbia, SC, enabling both its BroadbandAccess and V CAST services. Verizon Wireless customers in Columbia and surrounding areas now have access to the latest high-speed business and entertainment services on their wireless phones, laptop computers and other wireless devices.

"On the heels of Verizon Wireless' EV-DO launch in Greenville earlier this week, now over 1.4 million people in South Carolina can enjoy the latest high- speed business and entertainment services on America's most reliable wireless network," said Fountain. "Additional markets in South Carolina will also have EV-DO before the end of the year."

Verizon Wireless is working with Motorola, a leading CDMA infrastructure supplier, to help bring EV-DO to the Carolinas and meet Verizon Wireless' customer needs for wireless broadband services.

"Motorola's proven wireless solutions for deploying and extending broadband networks has helped Verizon Wireless offer their customers leading edge broadband data and multimedia services," said Dan Aderhold, Motorola, vice president of business operations, Motorola Networks & Enterprise.
