Verizon Business Helps Chr. Hansen Leverage Strategic Applications by Managing Secure, Global MPLS Network

Managed Global Private IP Network Enables Developer of Natural Food Ingredients to Maximise Efficiency, Performance and Business Resilience

READING, U.K and COPENHAGEN, Denmark - Chr. Hansen, one of the world's leading producers of natural ingredients for the food, pharmaceutical, nutritional and agricultural industries, will seamlessly and securely link its global sites using a Verizon Business managed Private IP network under an agreement announced today.

The MPLS-based PIP network, supplied and managed by Verizon Business, will enable Chr. Hansen to prioritise traffic to support the secure and resilient delivery of business-critical applications across 47 international sites on five continents, linking back to its two key administrative centres in Milwaukee, USA, and Hrsholm, Denmark. In addition, Chr. Hansen will be able to take advantage of centralised strategic applications such as enterprise resource planning for greater efficiency and competitiveness across international markets.

Chr. Hansen has around 2,500 employees in more than 28 countries in North and South America, Europe, Australia and Asia with key development centres in Denmark, the USA, France and Germany. The quick and secure transfer of data, information and research is crucial in order to enable the company to effectively support its customers. In order to enhance this connectivity and worker collaboration between its global offices, Chr. Hansen decided to centralise its operations onto one single IP network.

By replacing its four existing regional suppliers with one global supplier, Chr. Hansen plans to increase transparancy and control over its global data traffic. This will enable the company to concentrate on its strategic business goals, while the daily technical management, maintenance and support is effectively handled by Verizon Business.

Mikael Ludvigsen CIO, Vice President of Global IT at Chr. Hansen explains; "We expect that our new MPLS network will make it easier for us to support our users around the world, and we are looking forward to gain the business benefits. We are confident that this new technology will provide us with greater business resilience and flexibility, as well as more opportunities to prioritise data traffic and allocate bandwidth to our different business-critical applications according to our business needs."

Frank Enevoldsen, regional spokesperson for Verizon Business in Denmark, comments: "As a multi-national corporation, Chr. Hansen can take advantage of our global IP backbone for improved competitiveness now, as well as having access to improved scalability and flexibility to help support its future growth. We expect that Chr. Hansen's employees will experience a significant improvement in network reliability and availability, which will help them to service the company's customers more effectively. We are delighted to be able to work with Chr. Hansen on this important consolidation project."
