New Midland Vehicular Repeater Teams Portables-Mobiles

Titan Repeater puts a mobile's transmit power and features in the hands of portable 2-way radio users.

Kansas City, MO--It's a common situation in construction, agriculture, public works and public safety. Radio users depend on in-vehicle mobile radios to transmit over extended distances, but when they exit, their communications are limited by the transmit power of their portables. Midland Radio has announced
the introduction of the Titan Vehicle Repeater, a unique unit that, when installed into a Midland Titan mobile radio, answers that problem.

Since it mounts right into the chassis of a Titan mobile radio, the Vehicle Repeater integrates flawlessly without external cables or bulky add-ons to allow portable users to communicate into their system, taking advantage of the transmit power of the mobile as well as other sophisticated built-in features. Using the repeater function, a portable transmission is received at perhaps two Watts and is then retransmitted by the mobile at that unit's power level that could be as high as 110 Watts. Thus, a portable user could potentially communicate with another
person on the system from over 40 miles away.

In a similar fashion, the repeater retransmits incoming messages at one Watt, allowing a portable user to stay in communication with the base station from over one mile away from the vehicle depending on conditions.

The Titan Vehicle Repeater is available in either VHF (146-174 MHz) or UHF (450-470 MHz) models. The unit can be programmed with up to 16 (Rx/Tx) channels with either 12.5 kHz of 25 kHz channel spacing. Other features include digital coded squelch, scan and time-out timer.
