Syncho-Start Introduces Engine/Vehicle Control System
Niles, Illinois - Synchro-Start has expanded its series of APECS® programmable control systems to include the inexpensive APECS 5000 for small spark ignition engines that power mobile equipment. APECS 5000 is a fully programmable control system that has engine protection and diagnostic features. Suitable for all-terrain and utility vehicles, golf cars, turf and ground maintenance equipment, and small gen-sets, the APECS 5000 provides engine/ground speed control, rate of acceleration control, drive-by-wire operation, variable speed operation, and power take-off operation among its control capabilities.
o Calibration is simple using ACT, Synchro-Start's proprietary software. The controller can be calibrated on any IBM-compatible PC, allowing for easy customization and re-programmability.
o Universal speed input permits use with magnetic pickups, coil-type spark ignition systems, magneto spark ignition systems, and Hall Effect sensors.
o Stepper motor actuator provides high torque, yet requires low current (0.6 amps per phase). Actuator can be micro-stepped to 0.225° accuracy and enables programmable travel and direction, up to 360° clockwise or counter-clockwise, for precise governing.
o Internal diagnostics monitor engine operation and the status LED indicates malfunctions through coded flashing. Built-in engine protection capability can monitor engine coolant and oil pressure.
o Sealed, waterproof connectors assure reliability in harsh environments.
