VDC Display Systems New Technology Projectors Installed on US Navy Destroyer

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla., - Video Display Corporation (Nasdaq:VIDE) announced today that VDC Display Systems (VDC DS), a wholly owned subsidiary of the Company, has successfully installed a new upgrade for the existing display system on a US Navy Aegis Destroyer. The upgrade utilizes VDC's ruggedized MarqueeHD SSL6000 DLP® Projector with Solid State Light engine specifically developed for challenging environments such as US Naval applications.

This installation followed a significant and intense period of testing and evaluation of the new MarqueeHD SSL6000 DLP® Projector with Solid State Light engine technology by VDC DS, Lockheed Martin, and the US Navy. The delivered projectors are replacing older CRT type projectors currently installed in critical areas on various US Naval vessels.

The new projection visual system meets US Naval MIL Specifications for shipboard operation and safety. All MIL Spec operational and performance requirements were fully achieved including EMI, shock and vibration prior to acceptance by the US Navy.

Key features of the new projector include: No consumable lamps, LED illumination, MTBF in excess of 40,000 hours, high color stability, excellent color saturation, low heat generation, low power consumption, no orientation limitations, light weight, numerous lens options, guaranteed long production life and full dedicated product support. Controllable Infrared is also available as an option.

Future deliveries of the new projection systems for the US Navy are expected to continue through at least 2013.

VDC Display Systems Director of US Military Business Development, Art Banman, stated, "VDC Display Systems is extremely proud and excited about the very successful installation of the new technology projectors. This was the culmination of a long period of very intensive development and testing activity. All of the program objectives were achieved and VDC DS is very much looking forward to delivering many more of these projectors to the US Navy Aegis fleet.
