Fox Introduces New 77.76 MHz VCXO For Sonet Applications In Ultra Compact Package

Fort Myers, FL, November 2001 - Fox Electronics has introduced a new 77.76 MHz VCXO (Voltage Controlled Crystal Oscillator) for SONET applications in an extremely compact 7.5 mm x 5.0 mm x 2.0 mm high package. The VCS22AXT is approximately 75% smaller than the standard 14.0 mm x 9.6 mm package currently used throughout the telecommunications industry.

Part of Fox's VCS Series, the new VCSAT (5.0 V) and VCSAXT (3.3 V) devices decrease the amount of board space utilized, enabling telecommunications and instrumentation equipment designers to use the VCXOs in a wider range of package designs. The new device is ideal for optical network applications, including SONET and ATM.

The use of mesa blank crystal technology provides both lower jitter and higher pullability. The new VCSAT and VCSAXT are available in a wide range of stability and pullability options including ±25 PPM through ±100 PPM and ±50 PPM through ±100 PPM respectively. Temperature range is -10°C to +70°C as standard with an optional range from -400C to +850C. Input current for the new VCXOs is 5OmA at 77.76MHz, and output symmetry is 40% to 60% at 50% VDD. The compact VCSAT and VCSAXT devices are available in bulk quantities or on a 2,000-unit tape and reel for automatic assembly systems.

Pricing for a 77.76MHz VCS22AXT (±25 PPM Stability, ±100 PPM Pullability) begins at $14.98 in quantities of 2,000. Delivery is 10-12 weeks ARO. Fox is America's leading supplier of standard and custom frequency control products, including the industry's broadest line of crystals, oscillators, VCXOs, TCXOs and crystal filters. The company, headquartered in Fort Myers, FL, has facilities, representatives, and distributors throughout the world.
