Original Press Release:

New Variable Frequency Drives from Bosch Rexroth Offer Flexibility and Worldwide Compatibility

The Rexroth 500 Series drive uses the SERCOS interface to expand
existing options for connection to PROFIBUS, INTERBUS and CANopen.

Output ratings from 1.5 to 650 kW make the converters suitable for all Bosch Rexroth system solutions and allow decentralized drive structures with servo drives and frequency converters.

The Rexroth 500 Series Variable Frequency Drive with SERCOS interface meets class A standards for compatibility. The unit's drive functions include speed control, torque and speed regulation.

The System200 comprises a complete modular construction kit of drive and control components that use universal, open standards. These components combine to provide market-specific system solutions, including high-production machine tools, printing and paper converting machines, packaging and food processing machines, general automation, and mounting, handling and body operations in the automotive industry. Complete system solutions are used in more than 1,000 printing machines, several thousand packaging machines and over 90 automotive plants.

Modular construction of hardware and software also characterizes the Rexroth 500 Series. This new series from Bosch Rexroth's Electric Drives and Controls division combines variable cooling technology and Sinusoidal front-end technology in a single product line of frequency converters, inverters and regenerative power supplies ranging from 2 to 850 HP.

In addition to programmable I/O, option cards for SERCOS and other open interfaces, as well as SynchroLink, are available. Automatic motor optimization, guided commissioning via the control panel and the powerful REFUwin software tool simplify startup and operation. Freely configurable function blocks, including PID controllers, math blocks, digital gates, timers and application-specific blocks help reduce cost and control complexity.

The RD 500 frequency converters are specially designed for applications in lifting, testing and process engineering, and for all processes requiring the highest drive speed.
