Original Press Release:
Siemens Improves VFD Flexibility with NEMA 3R Mounting Option
BUFFALO GROVE, Ill., Sept. 8, 2004 - Siemens Building Technologies, Inc. has introduced a NEMA 3R enclosure package for its line of SED2 Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs). NEMA 3R enclosures allow outdoor mounting of VFDs near the controlled mechanical equipment and permit short motor lead-lengths for optimum performance.
The SED2 NEMA 3R package is equipped with a main input fused disconnect and optional two- or three- contactor bypass and line reactor. The NEMA 3R package protects SED2 VFD and bypass components from rain, snow and ice. The cabinet is provided with a shield that protects the unit from heating effects of indirect sunlight.
A filtered inlet, fan-controlled exhaust, and thermostatically controlled heater are supplied to ensure that required enclosure ambient conditions are maintained (0-40 degrees C). A High Temperature option is available for locations that can reach up to 50 degrees C.
Siemens SED2 Variable Frequency Drives, as well as the full line of Siemens HVAC sensors, valves, actuators and building control systems are available through hundreds of Siemens Building Technologies local offices, drive reps and Staefa Control System dealers.
