New Piston Actuated Valves Offer Reliable Control In Demanding Applications
BLYTHEWOOD, SC - Spirax Sarco, Inc., has released a new line of quality compact and standard size Piston Actuated Valves. They are an attractive alternative to both solenoid and ball valves for on/off control of media, including light slurries, viscous fluids, corrosives and saturated steam (to 130 psi). The line is offered with a maximum operating pressure range of 0-290 psi and vacuum to 29" Hg., which is one of the broadest in the industry.
Piston Actuated Valves require a separate source of pressure (pilot pressure) to operate. It can be air, water or inert gases. The pilot pressure can be delivered from a remote area, making it safe in explosive environments, or by a solenoid operated pilot valve that is attached directly to the Piston Actuated Valve. They are two-way valves that are offered in normally closed, normally open and bi-directional operation. The bi-directional valve is developed exclusively for high-pressure water applications to eliminate water hammer.
The Piston Actuated Valve angled seat design allows media a smooth transition through the valve, resulting in high flow rates with minimum pressure drops. It has fast open/close operation along with positive sealing aided by a soft Teflon® main seal. Superior design, quality materials and fine finishes allow for exceptional long life up to 5 million cycles.
Standard configurations include six line connection sizes from 1/2" to 2" NPT and BSP. Butt- and socket-weld along with flange and Tri-Clamp connections will be available shortly. The Piston Actuated Valve actuators are available in 45mm, 63mm and 90mm diameters to conveniently cover all size and pressure applications. Body materials include 316L stainless steel or bronze with a brass bonnet. Wetted materials are Teflon, Niploy coated stainless steel with 316L stainless steel or bronze and brass.
Options include custom pilot valves for each actuator size or a banked series of pilot valves that become a central control for a series of Piston Actuated Valves. Also available are a travel switch to indicate the position of the Piston Actuated Valve and a stroke regulator, which controls the amount of flow through the valve in addition to acting as a manual override.
