VACUUMSCHMELZE Presents New High-Precision Current Sensor for AC/DC up to 150 A in Ultra-Compact Design

Small is beautiful - New current sensor for industrial applications:

Hanau / Frankfurt - VACUUMSCHMELZE GmbH & Co. KG (Hanau) presents
its new high-precision current sensor family at this year's electronica (14th
to 17th November) in Hall B5, Booth 119. Type T60404-N4646-X654, for example,
measures maximum effective continuous current up to 50 A and
peaks of up to +150 A. The dimensions of the sensor housing are an ultracompact
22.2 mm x 10 mm x 24 mm. The electronics of these new-design
VACUUMSCHMELZE sensors are almost completely concentrated in an IC
(integrated circuit) designed in collaboration with a leading semiconductor
manufacturer.

The sensor displays AC and DC current of any wave form up to 100 kHZ and
over. It requires only a unipolar 5-volt power supply and generates output voltage
proportional to input current. Type X664 features an additional reference pin
to connect, say, with the reference voltage output or input of an A/D converter.

In addition to Type T60404-N4646-X654/X664, there are three new compact
type families for nominal voltages of 6 to 100 A and peak currents up to +200 A.
They comprise devices for both unipolar +5 volt power supply with voltage output,
and bipolar +/-12 to 15 volt power supply with current output. In addition,
VACUUMSCHMELZE presents further sensors based on the same principle for
continuous rms current of up to 700 A and peaks of up to +1250 A.

VAC's patented principle involves a compensation sensor with magnetic probe
as zero field detector, and delivers outstandingly precise current readings. DC
offset, hysteresis, temperature influence and long-term drift of output variable
are all minimal, and interference such as output noise or periodic signal at zero
input are negligible. VACUUMSCHMELZE Current Sensors feature low rise
times and wide frequency range, plus low-cost construction.

The new sensor is designed for PCB mounting and is also available in a pasteto-
pin version for reflow soldering.

VDE and UL approval has been granted and applied for respectively.

VACUUMSCHMELZE GmbH & Co. KG
VACUUMSCHMELZE (VAC), based in Hanau, designs, produces and markets advanced
magnetic materials and related products. In 1914, the first vacuum furnace laid the
foundation for today's VACUUMSCHMELZE. Industrial vacuum melting techniques for
alloys have been in operation since 1923. VAC today has over 3,000 employees in over
40 countries and annual sales of around 270 million euros, and is the holder of over 600 patents. The company is among the world's most highly innovative developers of
advanced industrial materials.

VAC's range of products comprises a broad array of advanced semi-finished products,
components, parts, modules and systems for use in a wide variety of fields and
industries spanning watch-making and medical technology, regenerative energies,
shipbuilding and telecommunications, and the automotive and aviation industries. VAC's
custom solutions are developed in close collaboration with the customer, reflecting the
company's expertise in materials and state-of-the-art production technology.
