VACUUMSCHMELZE Announces CMC Quick Selector and Design Software for CMC

Hanau / Frankfurt - Hanau-based VACUUMSCHMELZE GmbH announces
the immediate launch of two new programs simplifying selection of the
correct CMC (Common Mode Choke). CMC Quick-Selector helps users to
find a choke that matches their defined electrical parameters, while
VACUUMSCHMELZE's design software calculates a CMC with nanocrystalline
core (VITROPERMTM) that matches the desired electrical properties.

CMC Quick-Selctor
CMC Quick-Selector is a database listing existing standard types of single-phase
and three-phase CMCs. Both standard and special types can be shown. Quick-
Selector's search algorithm selects the correct choke type by applying one or
more predefined electrical parameters, such as load current, number of windings,
inductance, impedance, temperature, unbalanced power or design.

Design Software CMC
The program is used for CMC dimensioning. Users can define an array of parameters
such as core type, number of windings, wire diameter, load current and
ambient temperature.

Results are shown as a spreadsheet with all parameters entered and calculated.
Users are given details of impedance, copper resistance, inductance and allowed
unbalanced power as well as information on the anticipated operating temperature
and on any necessary forced cooling, estimated values for winding capacitance
and stray inductance and details of the weight and dimensions of the
choke.

The software also supplies diagrams of the characteristics of impedance Z, insertion
loss aE, inductance L and allowed unbalanced power depending on frequency.

The CMC design software applies physical models that consider eddy currents
and gyromagnetic effects in the core, winding capacitance and stray inductance
and thermal conditions.
