piSTAMP Offers Generic Retrofit in Press-shops

Ultra-lightweight decentralized vacuum generator fits generic suction cup holders in tools

Piab is introducing the new decentralized generic vacuum generator piSTAMP, offering easy retrofitting in automotive press shop tooling. The ultra-lightweight vacuum generator features a unique and integrated release mechanism, and comes in a compact, minimized package. Tailor-made for automotive press-shop automation, piSTAMP features new technology that will significantly benefit automotive manufacturers.

A fully decentralized design with compressed air ports at the side and vacuum port underneath, piSTAMP will fit perfectly in generic suction cup holders found in standard press shop tooling systems. Its design and mounting interface provide a perfect match in generic systems used in the automotive industry. Ports for compressed air and vacuum are supported by quick-fit push-in connectors of varying diameter.

Made in lightweight and extra durable PA66 material, piSTAMP utilizes Piab’s COAX® technology, ensuring low air consumption (typically 25 percent lower than competing technology), excellent suction capacity, and fast evacuation. The generator is normally supplied with two MICRO COAX® cartridges, supporting large suction cups in high speed applications. A one cartridge option is available for additional air consumption saving when used with smaller cups or at slower cycle speeds.

“The piSTAMP generator features a significantly lower weight per unit compared with our competitors’ products. The lower weight per unit corresponds to a total weight saving of over 500 grams in a typical press shop gripper with eight cups. This enables faster press line rates, and will result in less wear on robot arms,” says Josef Karbassi, Vice President of Piab’s Automation Division.

The integrated release function, the very fast acting Exhaust Block Release (EBR), is based on a durable polyurethane membrane which is not sensitive to dust. This ensures highly reliable production systems with improved uptime.

About Piab
Established in 1951, Piab designs innovative vacuum solutions that improve the energy-efficiency, productivity, and working environments of vacuum users around the world. As a reliable partner to many of the world’s largest manufacturers, Piab develops and manufactures a complete line of vacuum pumps, vacuum accessories, vacuum conveyors and suction cups for a variety of automated material handling and factory automation processes. Piab utilizes COAX®, a completely new dimension in vacuum technology, in many of its original products and solutions. COAX® cartridges are smaller, more energy efficient and more reliable than conventional ejectors, and can be integrated directly into machinery. This allows for the design of a flexible, modular vacuum system. Piab is a worldwide organization with subsidiaries and distributors in almost 70 countries. Its headquarters are in Sweden.
