New Series of Vacuum Cups from Techno-Sommer Automatic Feature Diameters as Small as 1mm
New Hyde Park, New York - The new SM series of vacuum cups introduced by Techno-Sommer Automatic for pick and place operations feature diameters as small as 1 mm. Some sheet materials, such as ferrous materials, pose handling problems, which sometimes exhibit a "slide" motion when maneuvered by magnetic grippers. This problem is often corrected with the use of suction cups. These products are available on a special free trial evaluation basis.
An optional vacuum cup mount with a built-in venturi vacuum generator eliminates the need to use a separate vacuum pump and results in a compact, simple to use, and highly reliable unit requiring only compressed air to operate. The cup is molded in neoprene and is optionally available in a blue silicone which is heat resistant to 200°C. It is also available in a white tempered silicone, which is suitable for food handling applications. The SM Series includes cup diameters which range from 1 mm to 130 mm. The height of the units range from 26 mm to 73 mm. They can be attached to a robot arm with an included hollow mounting stud. In addition, torroidal, oval, bellow, and knobbed vacuum cups are offered. Each of these designs addresses various handling issues. The torroidal cups are, for example, designed to handle objects that have holes in the center, such as a CD or washer.
