Shimadzu Scientific Instruments has introduced a second UV-Vis Spectrophotometer dedicated to bioscience applications. The new BioMini is capable of nucleic acid analysis, protein quantitation, and spectrum measurement. The comprehensive nucleic acid module provides quantitation methods for double and single stranded DNA, RNA, and standard Warburg-Christian. On-board protein methods include Lowry, UV, BCA, Bradford, and K factor. DNA companion programs assists in easy calculation of molecular weight and molar extinction coefficients. DNA melting calculations provide information for optimization of PCK and Hybridization experimentation.
