UV-Curable PUDs provide optimized formulation latitude.

Press Release Summary:

Free of solvents, surfactants, and tin catalysts, CN9500 and CN9501 are supplied at 40% solids content and are compatible with other water-based coatings. Both contribute optimal coating properties after water removal and UV curing, including good flow and leveling and low minimum film formation temperature. Non-yellowing and resistant to water, stains, and chemicals, CN9500 exhibits balanced flexibility and hardness, while CN9501 offers hardness and abrasion resistance without brittleness.

Original Press Release:

Sartomer's New High-Performance UV-Curable PUDs Improve Formulating Latitude of Coatings

With its new line of UV-curable water-based PUDs, Sartomer, a business unit of Arkema Inc., marks an innovative approach to UV PUD chemistry. Developed to be free of solvents, surfactants and tin catalysts, CN9500 and CN9501 provide enhanced formulation latitude. Both products are supplied at approximately 40 percent solids content and are compatible with other water-based coatings.

CN9500 and CN9501 contribute excellent coatings properties after water removal and UV curing, including good flow and leveling and a low minimum film formation temperature (MFFT). Both are dry to the touch after water removal. They create a warm appearance on wood, are non-yellowing and are easily matted to a low-gloss finish.

CN9500 exhibits balanced flexibility and hardness, while CN9501 has exceptional hardness and abrasion resistance without brittleness. A shared resistance to water, stain and chemicals makes these PUDs ideal for:

  • Coatings (wood, plastic, paper, paperboard and metal)

  • Adhesives (laminating and pressure sensitive)

Both CN9500 and CN9501 are also suitable for flooring applications, electronics and fabric treatments.

“With the release of this PUD product line, we are delivering greater formulating latitude with the consistent quality that Sartomer customers rely on,” said Terry Quinn, coatings business manager. “CN9500 and CN9501 meet or exceed the PUD industry norm in every tested performance aspect – with top marks for flexibility, yellowing, abrasion resistance and hardness.”
