Utility Orders Biach's New Stud Tensioner

Southern Nuclear Operating Company has placed the first order for Biach's new "SCT" - self contained tensioner for use at its Farley Nuclear Plant. The SCT combines the pumping system function onto each stud tensioner thereby eliminating the need for a central pumping station and all the interconnecting hoses from tensioners to a central pump. It also creates more useful refuel floor space, reduces the crew size and total dose. Included in the tensioner's features are Biach's proven QD-H latching style thread engagement, 10 year seals, LCD communication system and Elongation Monitoring System (EMS).
The J.M. Farley plant is a Westinghouse PWR design and is located in Ashford, Alabama.
