Zetec Introduces New Phased Array UT Data Acquisition System - Z-Scan PA

SNOQUALMIE, WASHINGTON - Zetec, Inc., a leading supplier of nondestructive evaluation (NDE) equipment introduces the Z-Scan PA - a powerful, flexible, and extremely compact phased array UT acquisition system for use in the power generation market. The Z-Scan PA features up to 64 simultaneously active phased array channels, and allows for real-time data compression, signal averaging, high pulsing rate, and Dynamic Depth Focusing (DDF). The Z-Scan PA is driven by Zetec's UltraVision® software from a desktop or notebook standard PC, through a 100BaseT Ethernet link.

"The Z-Scan PA family of products is the latest addition to Zetec's exciting portfolio of phased array and conventional UT solutions," said Jim Everard, Zetec's Vice President of Power Generation. "The ability to operate 64 simultaneous PA channels in this compact form factor, coupled with the advanced features of the UltraVision software, further expands the range of array probe designs and inspection solutions that our Application Engineers can recommend to our customers".

By supporting up to 64 simultaneous channels for acoustic beam forming, the new Z-Scan PA phased array equipment allows for the design of innovative UT inspection solutions in complex geometries, where 2-D matrix arrays and the simultaneous variation of refracted angle and skew angle are required.

The versatility and data acquisition performance of this light (less than 5 kg) and compact instrument are comparable to high-end instruments at least 5 times its size. A comprehensive data sheet of the Z-Scan PA can be found on the Zetec website.

Using the Z-Scan PA with the UltraVision software requires no additional training for operators that were previously trained on other Zetec phased array systems. The Z-Scan PA is also fully compatible with Zetec's portfolio of manually driven and motorized scanning mechanisms.
