Invensys Powerware Introduces the Powerware 9320, a Modular, Scaleable UPS for Data Centers

RALEIGH, N.C. (May 15, 2003) ? Invensys Powerware, the worldwide leader in Strategic Power Management? comprehensive power protection and management solutions, announces the availability of the Powerware 9320, the latest in its line of industry-leading uninterruptible power systems (UPSs). The Powerware 9320 is available for North America in the 10 ? 60 kVA range, and offers the reliability, flexibility and power density that IT professionals require for today's critical applications.

Power solutions with the Powerware 9320 can be easily configured and re-configured by simply adding either 10 or 20 kVA modules to the UPS cabinet for additional capacity or redundancy. As part of its advanced design, the Powerware 9320 features distributed parallel architecture (DPA) for redundancy and increased capacity. In a DPA system, each module operates as a completely independent unit, and includes UPS logic and parallel intelligence, reducing points-of-failure. Each module has its own output disconnect so it can be isolated from the rest of the system for service, or the internal bypass can be used to isolate all modules at once. Power modules are hot-swappable, allowing modules to be easily added or replaced. The Powerware 9320 can be paralleled with up to three modules, offering up to n+2 redundancy.

"Data center architects and IT managers are constantly looking for ways to increase system availability through computing and power density, while reducing total cost of ownership at the same time. By offering the flexibility of systems with high battery runtimes through battery cabinets, or with a space-saving design with the batteries housed in the cabinet, the Powerware 9320 can be configured to the IT manager's specific needs," said Darrick Finan, director of product management, Invensys Powerware. "The Powerware 9320 is uniquely capable of providing high power density, reliability and flexibility. It addresses the realities IT managers face with advanced technology and intelligent design."

Featuring high power density and a small footprint, the Powerware 9320 is ideal for increasingly crowded data centers where space is at a premium, and its double conversion online technology provides the highest level of reliability for 7x24 uptime requirements. Its advanced, modular design goes beyond similar solutions by eliminating a single point-of-failure in the cabinet.

The Powerware 9320 family includes two models, the Powerware 9320-CO2 and the Powerware 9320-CO3. The 9320-CO3 offers the advantage of longer battery runtimes, growth of system capacity up to 60 kVA and up to N+2 redundancy. The 9320-CO2 features a space-saving design with batteries housed inside the cabinet for applications where space is limited. Applications requiring extended battery runtime would use the 9320-CO3 model, where batteries are housed in a matching battery cabinet. Both models can be easily configured with extended runtimes in excess of several hours.

The Powerware 9320 is available now, starting at $22,280. For more information on this and other Invensys Powerware Strategic Power Management Solutions visit powerware.com.
