Caterpillar Introduces the New UPS 1200 kVA System
Caterpillar Inc. announces the availability of the Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) 1200 kVA/960kW 60 HZ System with Kinetic Power Cell Technology. The system provides the industry's smallest available footprint in tandem with superior capacity and performance. It features a 97 percent total system efficiency that translates into significantly greater cost savings, especially when compared to traditional UPS products.
The Cat® UPS 1200 kVA System offers minimal input current distortion, transient protection and harmonic distortion cancellation, providing an opportunity for seamless integration with Cat generator set systems. This integration ability facilitates higher total electrical load capacity without over-sizing the standby generator. The Cat UPS effectively insulates the generator set from block loads and transients, and can improve its fault clearing capabilities. Programmed integration with standby generator sets assures greater system reliability and improves the total system operation.
The Cat UPS 1200 kVA System provides high-speed voltage regulation and industry-leading power factor improvement, with a full-rated, continuous-duty static bypass switch and Local Emergency Power Off (EPO). Integrated alarms for all critical components and a programmable auto restart offer superior reliability, in addition to standard-feature back feed protection and self-diagnostics. The system also includes a bi-directional inverter, an RS232 or RS485 serial connection, and a 56 kbps modem. Redundant cooling fans facilitate a 40°C ratingon the entire system, which limits up-front HVAC costs and large electrical consumption during the life of the product.
The Cat UPS 1200 kVA is easily installed, and its superior system design and robust digital components require minimal maintenance. Overall system supervision is made possible from a distant location via remote monitoring. Input and output contacts are easily programmed with a feature-rich, color touch screen Graphical User Interface (GUI).
Optional features include up to two additional flywheel energy storage units for extended ride through, supplemental 24-volt generator set start power, SNMP MODBUS, communications maintenance bypass, output breaker, seismic mounting and parallel capability to 3600kVA capacity/redundancy. In addition, features such as real-time UPS View monitoring software and remote notification via Ethernet and e-mail, a remote EPO, and a remote status panel and GUI monitor panel can be specified to allow for increased control from a distant location.
