University of Manitoba Chooses Scranton Products' Tufftec® Lockers for New Active Living Facility Expansion

Scranton Products, a leading manufacturer of premium plastic partitions and lockers, announced that the Frank Kennedy Centre at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, Canada, selected Tufftec® Lockers for a major $3 million locker room expansion. This includes dozens of upgrades, including the expansion of the women's locker room and new lockers and benches in both the men's and women's locker rooms. A world-class Active Living Centre connected to the Frank Kennedy Center and main campus will share these locker rooms when it opens in 2015.

Simon Wang, manager/director of the Faculty of Kinesiology and Recreation Management facilities said they selected 3,000 Tufftec lockers to replace worn out metal lockers. "The metal lockers were badly rusted and dented after four decades of non-stop use," he said. "We took a good, long look at all the alternatives and decided on Tufftec, with long-lasting durability as the driving factor. We wanted a product that will not rust and that is easy to clean."

Engineered for strength and durability, Tufftec's HDPE material withstands the harshest daily use, with very low-maintenance. The lockers are also impact, dent and graffiti resistant as well as impervious to moisture. They feature ergonomic handles and several hardware and lock options. Tufftec's surface is naturally resistant to bacteria, mold and mildew. No need for painting means there are no VOC emissions.

Tufftec lockers are available in eight classic and two speckled colors. It is also possible to have custom colors designed upon request to match any décor and custom engraving of team logos or symbols in one or two colors. Designed to endure the wear and tear of athletic and recreational environments, they are Children & Schools GREENGUARD Gold Certified for indoor air quality.

"Tufftec met our criteria and features a 25-year warranty," said Wang. "So far, we've only needed to spot clean them and wet mop and vacuum inside the lockers as needed. The locker's gray tones also blend very nicely with the new fresh look of our locker rooms."

The expanded locker rooms and additional lockers will accommodate increased traffic when the new $46 million, 100,000 sq. ft. Active Living Centre opens next year.
