Universal Highlights Odd-Form Automation at NEPCON Shanghai

Portfolio of cost-effective, high-performance odd-form solutions transforms back-end manual assembly challenges into a strategic advantage

Universal Instruments will showcase its automated odd-form assembly solutions at the 2014 NEPCON Shanghai trade show held at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Center on April 23 – 25. Exhibiting on Channel Partner Gentron’s booth B-1F12, Universal will feature its new FuzionOF™ Platform, as well as its new Radial 88HT 3.5mm radial insertion platform.

“With manual assembly playing such a large role in the Chinese electronics manufacturing landscape, we’re eager to demonstrate alternative solutions that can significantly reduce costs while improving yield and productivity,” said Universal Instruments Vice President of Marketing, Glenn Farris. “Odd-form is just one component of our broad solutions portfolio, and our newest product is built on more than 20 years of leadership in odd-form automation,” he added.

On the booth, Universal will highlight FuzionOF - the fastest and most versatile high-speed automation platform. FuzionOF continues Universal’s odd-form platform lineage with unmatched performance and the flexibility to handle a diverse range of pin-in-paste odd-form, surface mount odd-form, standard surface mount, and semiconductor applications. With the most complete range of component handling and input types, a wide variety of standard tooling, and custom design and implementation services, FuzionOF addresses virtually any odd-form application.

Universal also offers complementary automation solutions, including the new Radial 88HT 3.5mm radial component sequencer and inserter with 2.5/3.5/5.0mm triple-span tooling. The Radial 88HT automates the insertion of tape-packaged radial components faster and more reliably than manual processes, and will be on the booth placing a variety of through-hole components.

For more complex front- and back-end assembly demands, Universal’s Polaris Assembly Cell provides flexible automation and repeatable performance to help manufacturers realize a faster ROI. Polaris automates a variety of processes, including pick and place for large and complex devices, dispensing, bar code reading, vision, screw driving, and labeling.
