Universal Flow Monitors Introduces Stainless Steel Flowmeters with Temperature Measuring Capabilities

Universal Flow Monitors, Inc. introduces stainless steel CoolPoint(TM) vortex shedding flowmeters with a temperature transmitter for measuring and monitoring both flow and temperature of corrosive fluids and water with chemicals added.

Stainless steel CoolPoint(TM) flowmeters with an optional temperature transmitter are designed for corrosion resistance and flow applications involving heat removal. CoolPoint(TM) flowmeters of 316 SS construction efficiently measure the flow rate of corrosive fluids, cooling water, water with chemicals added and water/glycol coolant. Meters with the transmitter have the added capability of monitoring temperature readings and transmitting them to a process controller.

CoolPoint(TM) flowmeters with stainless steel body and temperature transmitter are available in 3/4 inch, 1 inch, 1 1/2 inch and 2 inch pipe sizes. Maximum 4-20 mA transmitter flow rates are: 3/4 inch, 25 gallons per minute (95 liters per minute); 1 inch, 50 GPM (190 LPM); 1 1/2 inch, 100 GPM (380 LPM); and 2 inch, 200 GPM (750 LPM). Temperature readouts range from 32 degrees F to 210 degrees F, which can be expressed in either Fahrenheit or Celsius on the local LED readout.

The stainless steel CoolPoint(TM) flowmeters provide the repeatability and accuracy that help achieve process control. Flow and temperature repeatability of +/-.25 percent (1/4 of 1 percent) of indicated flow is standard. Flow accuracy of +/-2 percent full-scale and temperature accuracy of +/-1 percent FS are standard.

CoolPoint(TM) stainless steel flowmeters feature polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) sensors and Viton® fluoroelastomer seals as standard equipment. The meters can be equipped with Kalrez® perfluoroelastomer seals for added reliability in harsh chemical environments.

CoolPoint(TM) is an electronic meter that can measure fluids which may contain particles. The meter has no moving parts to stick or coat, eliminating potential for clogging. It is sold by pipe size, and all other features are selectable by pushing buttons on the meter face. Selections include a set point for flow and temperature alarm. Wiring is simplified by use of a pin connector optionally sold with the product.

Totalizing capability is available to increase the CoolPoint(TM) flowmeters' ability to measure, monitor and control the total amount of liquid used in a process. A flow totalizer with reset button and six-digit LED is offered as a special option on all CoolPoint(TM) pipe sizes. The flow totalizer features a pulse output and a display in either liters or gallons.

Flow turndown of 20:1 is also an option, up from 10:1 turndown as standard. The increased turndown ratio improves user capability to detect, read and record low flows, an advantage in batching and in standardizing on a single flowmeter model for multiple applications.
