Hazel Park, MI - Universal Flow Monitors announces it is adding a PROFINET option to its CoolPoint(TM) Vortex Shedding Flowmeters. The CoolPoint(TM) meter with PROFINET is expected to be available for sale in Q1 of 2013, according to Erik Rosaen, vice president of sales and marketing.
The Universal Flow Monitors' CoolPoint(TM) with PROFINET features fast start up (within 500 milliseconds) and dual RJ45 connectors with a built-in hub. Enclosed in a molded plastic housing, it measures and transmits flow over PROFINET Industrial Ethernet networking for manufacturing and process plants.
CoolPoint(TM) Vortex Shedding Flowmeters measure the velocity of liquids such as water, chemicals and corrosives. They use a bluff body obstruction to produce vortices, and an electronic transducer measures these oscillations to provide a signal proportional to flow rate. Increasing flow increases the frequency of oscillation. CoolPoint(TM) vortex shedding flowmeters have no moving parts to stick or coat, eliminating potential for clogging.
The molded plastic CoolPoint(TM) flowmeter with PROFINET communication has the following features:
· Repeatability: ± 0.25 percent (1/4 of 1 percent) of full-scale
· Accuracy: ±2 percent of full-scale
· 10:1 Turndown ratio
- Available in pipe sizes ranging from 1/4 inch to 2 inches
· Transmits flow rate, low-flow alarm set point, and alarm status (on/off)
- Receives alarm set point from server (user can set the low-flow threshold remotely from the server side)
- Data update rate: 100 msec
· 100 Mbit/s (Full duplex)
· Dual RJ45 ports
· Fast start-up (FSU) compatible
