T&B® Rigid Fittings BlueKote® Universal Conduit Elbow Form 8 Offers Four-to-One SKU Reduction

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The new, patent-pending T&B(R) Rigid Fittings BlueKote(R) Universal Conduit Elbow (LU) Form 8 from Thomas & Betts (T&B) replaces four conduit body configurations, resulting in a four-to-one reduction of stock-keeping units (SKUs). The T&B(R) Rigid Fittings BlueKote(R) LU(R) Form 8 enables fiber-optic cable to be run in a 3/4-inch system, instead of a two-inch system, and still maintain the cable bend radius, which provides a reduction in the time needed for installation.

"More than four years ago, we introduced the LU(R) Universal Elbow to replace LL, LR, LB and C conduit bodies," said Chad Smith, vice president, product management and engineering, at Thomas & Betts. "The same LU(R) configuration is now available as Form 8, which will go anywhere a conduit elbow is needed. With the new BlueKote(R) LU(R) Form 8 conduit body, the correct conduit body for the job always will be available.

"We introduced a line of Universal Conduit Elbows in the Form 7 configuration in 2010, and our customers found it to be so much more efficient to stock and install. The favorable response encouraged us to offer a Form 8 version, as well."

The angled covered port facilitates wire pulling, and uses standard covers. As the BlueKote(R) LU(R) Form 8 is UL Listed as an enclosure, splices are permitted inside of it. The BlueKote(R) LU(R) Form 8 is rated for 40-percent wire fill, avoiding the need to de-rate the system.

The BlueKote(R) four-layer protection provides internal and external corrosion resistance. In addition to the BlueKote(R) selection, the Universal Conduit Elbow Form 8 also will be available as polyvinylchloride (PVC)-coated Ocal(R) conduit fittings.
