Unitized Curtainwall System features thermal barrier.

Press Release Summary:

Pre-assembled and pre-glazed, 7250i-UW Series is equipped with polyamide nylon structural thermal barrier. Panelized frames span vertically from floor-to-floor, minimizing dependence on field weather seals, as well as accommodating dynamic movements without placing undue stress on glass, sealants, or other infills. Design options include pronounced sightlines, operating vents, and aluminum feature panels.

Wausau Introduces High-Performance, Installer-Friendly, Unitized Curtainwall System With Thermal Barrier

Wausau, Wis. -- Wausau Window and Wall Systems announces its new 7250i-UW Series unitized curtainwall system with polyamide nylon structural thermal barrier. Maximizing performance and minimizing installation time, the system is pre-assembled and pre-glazed in panelized frames (units) for quick, easy installation backed with up to a 10-year limited warranty.

"New model energy codes are being adopted by local and state jurisdictions nationwide, demanding improved curtainwall framing thermal performance," explains Steve Fronek, P.E., vice president of technical services for Wausau. "When glazed with high-performance, low-emissivity insulating glass units, 7250i-UW meets the most stringent of these new requirements -- even in northern climate zones. The design also improves condensation resistance, and helps address sustainable design goals for many buildings."

The unitized curtainwall's panelized frames usually span vertically, from floor-to-floor, and reduce dependence on field weatherseals, as well as accommodating dynamic movements without placing undue stress on glass, sealants or other infills. Wausau's 7250i-UW Series also provides numerous design options including more pronounced sightlines, operating vents and aluminum feature panels.

Pre-glazed units typically are off-loaded at the project site using the main construction crane. Usually, they are lifted to the roof or the floor above their installed position where they are stored and organized for future distribution. The units are erected by stacking individual panels vertically and horizontally, resulting in a four-way-stack-joint design. Using this method, there is less handling needed for each unit, which decreases the opportunity for a mishap and saves time overall.

"Installation time virtually can be cut in half using a factory-assembled, pre-glazed, unitized curtainwall system," adds Fronek. "The faster we can help close up the building's exterior skin, the faster that building can open for business."
