Unified Threat Management with PacketAlarm UTM

For the first time worldwide VarySys Technologies launches a Unified Threat Management System on the market. Introducing PacketAlarm UTM the manufacturer presents its new product line for comprehensive protection of companies network systems.

Stuttgart, 04 March 2005 - VarySys Technologies, a manufacturer of intrusion detection and prevention systems, is expanding its product portfolio and unveiling its new PacketAlarm UTM product line at CeBIT 2005 in Hanover.

VarySys Technologies is setting new standards on the market of Unified Threat Management Systems. The new PacketAlarm UTM product line protects companies from all relevant threats and combines functions such as firewall, intrusion prevention, application level gateway, vulnerability scanner, VPN gateway, virus scanner and spam filter. The combination of individual functions enables PacketAlarm UTM to block malware and attacks. The system prevents from viruses, worms, Trojan horses, spam, DoS attacks, backdoors and countless other hacker intrusions. All data is checked in real time and dangerous and unwanted data packets are blocked before they enter the network to be protected.

"Nowadays, users and administrators have to be prepared for a wide variety of attacks. But it doesn't matter to them exactly what sort of attack it is. What users really want is a system that quite simply filters unwanted data out of the data stream, no matter whether it's a virus, worm, DoS attack or spam," says Thilo Schmid, CEO of VarySys Technologies. "Unified threat management systems are the only way of meeting these customer requirements because they combine key security functions in a single system. The individual security components are coordinated perfectly and offer secure protection with relatively small investments and ease of use."

However, there are many more reasons behind the rapidly growing sales volumes on this market. Companies that utilise PacketAlarm UTM also benefit from a simple, centralised configuration and the low administration and maintenance costs that go with it. PacketAlarm features a setup wizard to facilitate configuration, meaning users can get the system up and running quickly and without unnecessary outlay.

VarySys Technologies will be unveiling the new product line at CeBIT 2005 at stand A 46 in the IT Security sector, hall 7. A visit to the company's stand will be more than enough to convince visitors of the benefits of PacketAlarm UTM.

The PacketAlarm UTM product line will be available both as an appliance and software. It is well-suited for all sizes of companies, with licenses on offer for 50 users and above. The series provides cost-effective across-the-board protection with prices starting at EURO 1,960 (EURO 1,690 excl. VAT). Information is available in advance at: www.packetalarm.com
