Emergency Medicine Physician Extols Benefits of Sonix CEP Emergency Ultrasound System

BURNABY, Canada, Oct. 19 /-- Ultrasonix Medical Corporation, a company dedicated to providing Smart Ultrasound for better patient care, today unveiled the new Sonix CEP Smart Ultrasound System at the 37th Annual Scientific Assembly of the American College of Emergency Physician in New Orleans, LA. Sonix CEP is a dedicated Ultrasound System specifically designed for Emergency Medicine, with high performance imaging in a compact system tailor made for the chaos and fast pace of the emergency department.

Customers such as Dr. Rob Reardon, Director of Emergency Ultrasound at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, are capturing high resolution images right at their patient's bedside with Sonix CEP. "The Sonix CEP images are as high quality as the larger systems but technicians do not have to struggle and push the bigger machine or handle the complexity of using the traditional systems," says Dr. Reardon. "They are able to screen patients right at their bedsides, more rapidly and efficiently with the Ultrasonix machine."

For Dr. Reardon who leads a team of more than 50 practicing sonographers, including residents and staff physicians, at a busy teaching hospital, the Sonix CEP's easy to use and navigate interface and innovative Sonix Live video streaming capability are valuable features over other systems.

"I believe Ultrasonix is the up and coming Ultrasound company," says Dr. Reardon. "The ease of use of their systems, the open PC architecture that enables technicians to easily capture digital still and video images, and their wireless connectivity definitely put them at the forefront of Ultrasound innovation."

Built to be always ready when it matters most, the Sonix CEP powers on in seconds and has up to 30 minutes of rechargeable battery life that allows Emergency Medicine physicians to move from room to room and treat multiple patients without losing power. "I've had multiple faculty and residents tell me the Ultrasonix machine is superior to the other traditional systems and handheld systems in our department," says Dr. Reardon.

Dr. Reardon believes that Ultrasound and the Sonix CEP are becoming an intrinsic part of delivering better patient care for Emergency Medicine. "Emergency bedside ultrasound is rapidly becoming the standard of care for diagnosing many life threatening conditions, especially in trauma cases. Ultrasonix has worked with emergency physicians to create a system that is easy to use in a busy emergency department without compromising image quality."
