Low-Cost Virtu(TM) Sensor Now Available In Barrel Style

May 20, 2004 - Dayton, OH - Hyde Park Electronics LLC, announces Virtu18(TM), the low-cost, high-performance ultrasonic Virtu sensor in an 18 mm barrel body style. The new barrel style has all the unique features of the original dual-mount body style, expanding the most innovative ultrasonic sensor into industry standard packaging. Material synergies with Telemecanique accelerated Virtu18's introduction to market, allowing users to keep pace with the ever-changing face of business.

Virtu18 features sensing ranges from 50 mm (2") to 510 mm (20"). This versatile, powerful ultrasonic proximity sensor sells for $89, a price breakthrough for superior ultrasonic technology. The tough VALOX® housing makes it ideal for many OEM applications and packaging applications, including food and beverage. It operates on 12 to 24 VDC and provides either a sinking (NPN) or a sourcing (PNP) output. Virtu18 also has teach-in window capability and no downtime is required for sensor recalibration when colors, materials, or shapes change.

With UL enclosure ratings of Type 4X and IP67, this CE certified sensor is resistant to dust, 100% humidity, most acids and bases, and high pressure washdowns that often leave water buildup on the sensing face. This sleek sensor is virtually impervious to the effects of splashing food, caustic cleaning solutions, or changing light conditions. Shielding and filtering make the fully encapsulated sensor immune to radiated or conducted energy.
