Sierra Instruments Introduces New Innova-Sonic In-Line Ultrasonic Flowmeter with Order-of-Magnitude Improvements in Transit-Time Measurement Technology



MONTEREY, CA - January 18, 2007 -- Sierra's Innova-Sonic® In-Line is a state-of-the-art Digital Correlation Transit-Time Ultrasonic flowmeter designed to give the end-user high performance at an affordable price. Sierra's advanced PicoFlight(TM) measurement technology is an order-of-magnitude improvement in transit-time measurement technology and enables far superior response to changes in flow (much greater resolution) and outstanding low flow detection.

Innova-Sonic® In-line is an order-of-magnitude improvement over other transit-time ultrasonic instruments in use today. The instrument features our patented ultra-precise PicoFlight(TM) measurement technology. An industry first, this advanced technology allows the ultrasonic transit time-of-flight to be measured in picoseconds 10-12 (one trillionth of a second) for superb resolution and extreme low flow detection rather than the typical nanoseconds 10-9 (one billionth of a second).

Sierra's Innova-Sonic® In-Line is designed using SLSI technology (Super Large Scale Integration) allowing ten times the component population compared to the typical Integrated circuit. The unique patented in-line spool piece design features UPVC (Unplasticised PVC) for greater tensile strength and less thermal flexing than normal PVC flanges. The stainless steel jacket keeps the internal diameter of the flow body fixed during thermal expansions or contractions and contributes to the superb (0.5% of Reading) accuracy. The Innova-Sonic In-line is easy to program via Infrared (IR) hand held remote and includes an easily readable 16 character by 2 line backlit display.
