Clean Harbors Adds Ultrasonic Cleaning for Oil, Gas and Petrochemical Processors

Exclusive worldwide licensee for Tech Sonic technology

SAN ANTONIO - Clean Harbors, the leading provider of environmental, energy and industrial services throughout North America, today announced that it is the exclusive worldwide provider of Tech Sonic Services LTD ultrasonic cleaning technology. Exhibiting here at the National Petrochemical & Refiners Association Reliability & Maintenance Conference in Booth #561, Clean Harbors will be demonstrating this new service.

Safe, Environmentally Sound Removal Process

The piezoelectric effect technology used by Clean Harbors removes heavy and light bitumen, tar asphaltines, polymers, grease and other petroleum-based products from process equipment used in the oil, gas and petrochemical industries.

Clean Harbors' ultrasonic cleaning process replaces conventional high pressure cleaning approaches with cavitation bubbles and a proprietary chemical degreaser. The process thoroughly cleans external and internal surfaces of exchangers and process equipment by submerging them in the cleaning solution in a tank and subjecting them to ultrasonic cavitation for one to six hours.

Ultrasonic cleaning is becoming the preferred method for many equipment cleaning situations. It is safer than high pressure cleaning, significantly reduces both water usage and waste, and fully contains the cleaning solution in the tank for reuse or disposal at a Clean Harbors disposal facility. The process does not degrade metal and, using Clean Harbors' mobile or leased onsite services, equipment can be quickly returned to service.

"Combining Clean Harbors' environmental, safety and industrial service expertise with Tech Sonic technology creates an unmatched cleaning service for oil, gas and petrochemical processors," said Clean Harbors Vice President Industrial Specialty Services Chris Boase. "It is safe, efficient and returns production equipment online in a fraction of the time."

"We are very excited about the relationship with Clean Harbors. Our technology coupled with Clean Harbors' extensive footprint gives us the ability to quickly launch this industry-changing process to clients across a broad geography," added Shawn Smith, Tech Sonic Vice President and General Manager.

Clean Harbors offers mobile tanks for turnarounds and can operate long-term lease tanks on customer sites. These services are available immediately. For additional information visit www.cleanharbors.com/ultrasonic.
