Phihong's New 4-Port Ultra PoE Midspan Reaches Full Power of 60W per port
FREMONT, Calif.-- (August 13, 2007) --Phihong USA, a global leader in Power-over-Ethernet solutions, has introduced a 60W, 4-port midspan. Designated the Ultra PoE POE480U, this low-cost midspan provides total full power of 480W and requires no power management. This Power-over-Ethernet device is ideal for remotely powering applications such as high-power radios, wireless access points and computer workstations in business and educational environments.
"The POE480U is designed around the same concepts as the current PoE standards as well as those under discussion for forthcoming IEEE802.3at standards," said Keith Hopwood, vice president of marketing, Phihong USA. "This Ultra PoE device enables next-generation call centers to utilize a single UPS or remotely power high-power devices outside or on the top of a pole without having to run AC power to the location."
Other solutions require hard-wiring power to the ceiling where the access points are mounted. This new midspan can power applications without additional time, labor and equipment for setup.
The 60W, 4-port Ultra PoE midspan is 17.5 inches X 8.98 inches X 1.75 inches. Data networks are avai1able with 10BASE-T, 100BASE-T, and 1000BASE-T data rates. The POE480U has safety and protection systems designed to meet the IEEE 802.3 standards, including detection, disconnect and overload control.
The outputs are equipped with short-circuit and overload protection, and the output can be shorted permanently without damage. Over-temperature protection allows the midspan to automatically shut down without being damaged. The voltage range of the AC input is 90VAC to 264VAC, with AC input frequency from 47Hz to 63Hz. There is also an optional DC input available.
Typical pricing for Phihong's Ultra PoE 60W, 4-port midspan is $449 each in OEM quantities. Parts are available immediately for OEM customers.
