Ultra High Frequency Vibrometer measures at up to 600 MHz.

Press Release Summary:

Suited for studying high frequency MEMS or piezoelectric transducers used in medical ultrasound or NDT, UHF-120 can measure at amplitudes up to 100 m/sec with resolution of 30 fm/√Hz. It can be used in development of high spatial resolution ultrasound transducers for study of crosstalk between array elements, output uniformity and tissue interaction using phantoms. Laser Doppler Vibrometer can also be integrated into probe stations for testing at wafer level.

New Ultra High Frequency Vibrometer from Polytec

Polytec introduces the UHF-120, a revolutionary Ultra High Frequency Vibrometer capable of measuring at unprecedented frequencies up to 600 MHz and amplitudes up to 100 m/s with a resolution of 30 fm/√Hz.

The UHF-120 is the ideal instrument for studying high frequency MEMS or piezoelectric transducers used in medical ultrasound or NDT. For example it can be used in the development of high spatial resolution ultrasound transducers for the study of crosstalk between array elements, output uniformity & tissue interaction using phantoms. RF-MEMS researchers can use it to study the dynamics of SAW filters. Structures such as NEMS or other systems operating at high frequencies with short acoustic wavelengths can be characterized with high lateral resolution due to the small focal spot of the laser beam (<1µm). The ability to measure high velocities opens new applications such as the characterization of high intensity focused ultrasound transducers. Furthermore, the UHF-120 Laser Doppler Vibrometer can be integrated into probe stations for testing at the wafer level.
