Ultra Broadband TWA suits high-speed digital communications.

Press Release Summary:

Traveling wave amplifier (TWA), AMMC-5025, suits high-speed digital communications applications that operate in 30 kHz to 80 GHz frequency band. Along with 8 dB signal gain and ±0.7 dB gain flatness, it offers better than 10 dB I/O return loss. Gain slope control is also included in addition to adjustable gain control feature that allows over 25 dB of dynamic range. Supplied on 1.6 x 1.0 mm die, TWA offers 50 ohm match on I/O as well as 70 V MM and 300 V HBM ESD protection.

Avago Technologies Introduces Industry's First DC-80 GHz Traveling Wave Amplifier for Microwave Radio Systems and Satellite VSAT Applications

New Amplifier Features Ultra Broadband Performance in a Compact Package and Ease of Integration

SAN JOSE, Calif., and SINGAPORE, October 21, 2009

Avago Technologies (Nasdaq: AVGO), a leading supplier of analog interface components for communications, industrial and consumer applications, today introduced the industry's first ultra broadband traveling wave amplifier (TWA) for high-speed digital communications applications that operate in the 30KHz to 80GHz frequency band. Avago's AMMC-5025 amplifier provides 8 dB of small signal gain and excellent gain flatness of +/-0.7 dB along with better than 10 dB input and output return loss to provide superior performance which is ideal for use in Test and Measurement equipment, Radar Warning Receivers, Wideband Communications and Surveillance systems, and Point-to-Point Radios.

The AMMC-5025 has a gain slope control feature and an adjustable gain control feature that allows over 25 dB of dynamic range. The superior performance features of this TWA makes it ideal for use in instrumentation and MMIC applications. Moreover, with a miniature die size of 1.6 mm by 1.0 mm, the AMMC-5025 amplifier integrates easily into a wide range of RF/Micromodules and subsystems.

Features

  • 50 ohm match on input and output
  • ESD protection, 70V MM and 300V HBM
  • Typical performance (Vd = 5V, Idsq = 0.1A)
  • P-1dB: 15dBm @ 40 GHz
  • Input/Output return loss of -10dB/-15dB

    Pricing and Availability

Avago's AMMC-5025 amplifier is priced at $150 each in 1,000 piece quantities. Samples and production quantities are available now through Avago's direct sales channel and worldwide distribution partners.
