UL 508 General Use Approval for Solid-State Contactors

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – Phoenix Contact's CONTACTRON ELR 2+1 and ELR-3 series of solid-state contactors have received UL 508 General Use approval. The new approval complements the Solid-State Motor Controller approval these products already possess and permits them to be used in resistive and heating-load applications, in addition to across-the-line motor-starting applications.

The CONTACTRON family of solid-state contactors is designed for switching resistive and inductive loads with maximum reliability and performance. Comprising single-phase and three-phase solid-state contactors, the CONTACTRON ELR family is intended to replace electromechanical contactors in applications requiring frequent switching and maximum system availability.

The CONTACTRON ELR contactors feature a small form-factor, continuous duty rating, easy DIN rail-mounting installation, and low-voltage and line-voltage control configurations. These features increase the available space and add flexibility to control cabinet design, without the wear that occurs in electromechanical contactors.

The CONTACTRON product family also features the ELR-H3 and ELR-H5 hybrid motor starters. These units can provide forward and reverse motor operations, adjustable overloads, and an emergency-stop function. When properly optioned, one motor starter can provide up to four motor control functions in one unit, while also providing a safety solution up to SIL 3 PLe.
