UFP Technologies Provides Biodegradable Packaging for Pangea Organics Bar Soaps

UFP Technologies Inc., (NASDAQ - UFPT), a leading manufacturer of custom engineered packaging materials, is providing Pangea Organics Ecocentric Bodycare, a leading organic personal care product manufacturer, with a biodegradable and recyclable clamshell for its line of bar soaps. Molded Fiber, a division of UFP Technologies, manufactures the customized shells, which are made from 100% recycled paper fibers and offer a cost-effective, environmentally-friendly alternative to petroleum-based packaging materials.

Pangea Organics recently redesigned packaging for its entire product line, and UFP Technologies provided recycled molded fiber for a visually appealing packaging solution. Molded fiber's inherent resilience and blocking and bracing capabilities enable it to outperform most vacuum-formed plastic, expanded polystyrene and corrugated designs. In addition, UFP's molded fiber has an inherent moisture content that does not fluctuate significantly, even in especially humid temperatures.

In April 2006, Pangea Organics was honored with Best New Packaging Award at Organic Products Europe in London, England. This is the second award Pangea has won as result of the company's collaboration with internationally-acclaimed branding firm IDEO in San Francisco, California (USA). In September 2005, Pangea Organics was awarded first place for Best New Product Offerings for 2006 in the category of Green/Environmental Impact at New Hope Natural Media's Natural Products Expo East in Washington, D.C., (USA), where Pangea's new product innovation and design debuted. Pangea's handcrafted, organic bar soap Malagasy Cinnamon Cassia with Cloves led the company to victory.
