UBI Banca Chooses Misys Midas Plus and TI Plus to Support the Consolidation of Its International Banking Network

LONDON, December 17 -- Misys plc (FTSE: MSY.L), the global application software and services company, today announces that it had been selected by UBI Banca International to help consolidate its international business. The Misys solution will enable the bank to improve efficiencies and business management across the group and ensure a consistent level of service to customers in Luxembourg, Spain and Germany.

The Italian bank, which was recently formed as a result of the merger between BPU and Banca Lombarda, is re-designing its international operations to increase market coverage and enhance the service it provides its customers. The Luxembourg office will be the cornerstone of the network, where Misys' integrated solution of Misys Midas Plus with Global Processing and Misys TI Plus, will be implemented and rolled out across the rest of the EU branches. This will allow the bank to have a single technical infrastructure and IT team for managing the business across multiple countries and regulatory environments.

As Massimo Amato, Managing Director of UBI Banca International, explains, "The Misys solution enables us to streamline operations across the group and deliver enhanced services from centres of core competency. For example, there will be a centre of excellence in Luxembourg for the Private Banking and Financial engineering business, whereas the expertise for trade finance could be in Spain or in Germany. This way, we maximise assets and skills within the group. The challenge is being able to adopt a controlled, low risk approach to the consolidation process and Misys demonstrated its capability to deliver in this area."

With the Misys solution, UBI Banca International will implement common practices across the group and take advantage of the enhanced functions it delivers, such as improved workflows and better access to data. The bank will have the ability to take a central, consolidated view of risk throughout the organisation and have the information to drive more informed decision-making and business management. The multiple infrastructures and core systems across the international offices will be replaced by the centrally located Misys Midas Plus.

Claus Schuenemann, Head of Sales for Europe, Misys Banking, adds, "Many banks today are looking to consolidate their technology operations and centralise their IT operations. Misys is the only vendor that provides a complete answer to banks' Global Processing needs. With 49 banks now using Midas Plus, 15 of which are using Global Processing to run multiple sites, Misys is delivering results for customers through proven systems and professional services expertise."

The multiple phases of the project will be rolled out over the next 18 months and the global processing model will give UBI Banca International the ability to easily deploy more group entities whenever required.
