U.S. Navy CNIC Approves the Deployment of SoftBrands Enterprise Solution

MINNEAPOLIS, Feb. 12 // -- SoftBrands, Inc. (AMEX:SBN), a global supplier of enterprise application software, today announced the Proof of Concept approval by the U.S. Navy's Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC) to proceed with the deployment of SoftBrands' Core central reservation system (CRS), Reservation Portal and Management Console along with a global upgrade to Epitome.NET property management system (PMS). The implementation of this integrated enterprise solution is currently in progress throughout the Navy Gateway Inns & Suites around the world, representing a multi-million-dollar contract.

The upgrade from Epitome PMS to Epitome.NET PMS enables the Navy Gateway Inns & Suites to move from a decentralized client-server infrastructure to a web-native tiered architecture, centralizing 79+ independent servers into a single hosting facility thereby reducing staff requirements and providing greater process and version control. Epitome.NET PMS takes advantage of the data previously maintained in the Epitome PMS and as a result, the Navy Gateway Inns & Suites continue to use and benefit from the years of online guest history and transactional data previously collected. The upgrade also allows the Navy to take advantage of new technologies without the cost burden typically associated with system replacement; the Navy Gateway Inns & Suites is able to leverage its existing policies, procedures and training investment.

The implementation of the Core CRS and Reservation Portal enables the Navy Gateway Inns & Suites to centralize the management of rates and inventory and consolidate guest profiles, which facilitates their guests' ability to make reservations online and have better visibility to room availability at all sites worldwide. The Core Management Console provides on-screen reporting of Key Performance Indicators and at-a-glance occupancy and rate statistics to better manage the overall utilization of the lodging sites.

"This approval affirms a long-standing relationship between the U.S. Navy CNIC and Hotel Information Systems, now a division of SoftBrands," stated Jo Masters, vice president and general manager of SoftBrands Americas Hospitality. "We are honored to have the U.S. Navy CNIC as our partner and are delighted to work with them in the implementation of an effective enterprise solution to help them manage their lodging facilities worldwide and provide excellence to the community in which they serve."
