U.S. Marine Corps Calls on LBA for Critical F-35 Lightning Protection

Marine Corps implements unique LBA Lightning Masts for protection of its F-35 fleet in Japan

GREENVILLE, N.C. (PRWEB) SEPTEMBER 05, 2018 - The U.S. Marine Corps has purchased PLP Lightning Mast systems designed and manufactured by LBA Technology, Inc. (LBA). These portable systems, that are part of the company’s StrikeMaster® line of lightning mast protection systems, are being used to safeguard the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter jet fleet at Air Station Iwakuni, Japan. LBA Technology, Inc. is a business unit of LBA Group, Inc.

“Based upon extensive research from the F-35 Joint Strike Force Program Office, this is the only lightning mast that meets the established program requirements,” the Marine Corps said of the proprietary LBA solution.

The Marine Corps required portability and quick deployment capability to provide 24/7 lightning protection in support of combat operations or training exercises. The PLP mast provides for highly effective lightning protection and is designed to withstand a wide range of harsh environmental elements.

It can be broken down for compact storage and transportation. The PLP includes streamer discharge dissipation technology to reduce the probability of lightning strikes and is fully compliant to NFPA70 requirements for lightning masts.

“We specialize in lightning protection solutions for critical, high value military and civilian assets and we’re honored to be providing our PLP masts to the Marine Corps for such an important mission,” LBA COO Mike Britner said.
