Audiovox Introduces 'Informer' Series Two-Way Remote Start and Vehicle Security System with Confirmation

New Security Line Offers Personal, Safety and Convenience Features That Will Appeal to Retailers and Their Customers

Las Vegas NV - January 2004 - Audiovox Electronics Corporation, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Audiovox Corporation (NASDAQ: VOXX), raised the curtain (along with some industry enthusiasm levels) on their line of eighteen vehicle security systems at the 2004 Consumer Electronics Show.

The products represent the most diversified offerings from a company that is acknowledged as one of the leading vehicle security suppliers in the industry, and consist of two 2-way confirming remote starters, two confirming remote alarms, two 2-way confirming keyless entry remote starters, 2 confirming keyless entry remote alarms and 2 confirming remote start/security systems.

The Confirming Remote Start Models are sophisticated, fun to use, a guaranteed conversation starter and deliver lots of important data to the driver. The "Informer" Series, (one of which is APS-996A) features visual confirmation of either alarm system status or remote start on an LCD screen on the transmitter. A special two stage 'city' shock sensor meets the needs of urban living, where situations happen to a vehicle, having nothing to do with theft (a bump or loud truck passing by) and deals with it within the perimeter of the vehicle, not throughout the entire neighborhood. Additional features include an LCD clock-alarm/parking meter timer, vehicle interior temperature indicator (°F or °C selectable) and a personal pager to the LCD transceiver from inside the vehicle. Remote start features include selectable run time of 5, 10, 15, and 20 minutes, 24-hour auto start timer, zero degrees start mode and visual confirmation of remote start on the LCD panel up from up to 1,400 feet. Includes a data plug for an optional telematics vehicle locator system.

The Remote Start Alarm Models allow the driver to throw away the ice scraper, be cool in the summer and warm in the winter. Both models (APS-875A and APS-786) can start a vehicle from up to 1,000 feet. Features include code-hopping technology, parking light flasher, 6-tone siren, enhanced panic, protected valet override and programmable timed start. APS-875A also features a flashlight built into the transmitter that is bright enough to allow the user to change a tire at night.

Remote Start Keyless Entry Models combine the comforts of remote start with the convenience of popping a trunk or a door lock. You never have to set a load of shopping bags down again. Features include 1,000-foot range for APS-686 and APS-55LRA (400 feet for AS-9055), carbon fiber, code-hopping transmitters and parking light flashers.

Remote Alarm and Keyless Entry Models - Ten user-friendly, feature-rich models, designed for budgets ranging from economical to high end and everything in between. They give the retailer multiple selling opportunities and consumers a variety of reliable products that offer security, personal safety and convenience. These products have features that include ranges from 100 to 1,000 feet, built-in flashlights, code-hopping, super-bright blue LED status lights and data ports on maost models for optional plug-in telematics solutions.

"We do market a lot of security products," says Tom Malone, Senior VP, Sales, Audiovox Electronics Corporation, but it does make sense, since we have been in the business for almost 40 years. We took the vehicle security category from a 'boring square black box' transmitter to a cosmetically-appealing component that combined fashion as well as function. That aside, we have always delivered a high-tech product, featuring security, personal safety and convenience. We have been leaders in the remote start and vehicle tracking categories as well. Audiovox vehicle security products give our dealers the opportunity to increase sales and profits from the promotional level to the top of the line."
