Midland Debuts New Two-Way Workhorse!

Ruggedly dependable, Midland's 16 channel Professional 80-150/400 Two-Way Portable Radio offers over 43,000 anytime minutes per month!

N. Kansas City, MO: Midland Radio Corporation has introduced a new portable two-way radio for business and professional communications. With models available to operate on conventional user-licensed VHF (148-174 MHz) or UHF (440-470 MHz) frequencies, the Midland 80-150/400 eliminates costly airtime fees for job-site communications, allowing users to talk 24/7 at no additional cost. The new radio is backed by Midland's Two Year Limited Warranty.

The tough-talking 80-150/400 packs 16 channel capability and 5 Watts (VHF, 4 Watts UHF) of talking power into a 5.75" high by 2.8" wide by 1.5" deep (less antenna) durable polycarbonate housing. Knobs and buttons are located to allow comfortable use even with the bulkiest of work gloves. The whole radio including the standard 1200 mAH NiMH (Nickel Metal Hydride) rechargeable battery weighs just 14 ounces. Midland utilizes the NiMH battery to eliminate the "memory effect" prevalent with NiCd batteries.

The 80-150/400 boasts a range of features demanded by users in applications from construction and contracting to security and building maintenance. These include adjustable transmitter output power (5/1 Watt (VHF) or 4/1 Watt) by channel. For instance, in its five-Watt mode, the 80-150 can communicate up to five miles (range is dependent upon terrain and other environmental conditions) with radios on the same FCC-licensed VHF frequency. The radio automatically switches to low power operation when low battery is detected.

Each of the 16 channels can be field-programmed for either 12.5 or 25 kHz bandwidths. This allows users with licenses on multiple frequencies to use one radio to communicate with others of varying ages, brands and bandwidths. Other key features include scan and programmable squelch codes.

The 80-150/400 portable two-way radio accepts a wide range of Midland-brand accessories including remote speaker microphone, Fast Charger (2 hour), ear-pieces and headsets. In addition, the 80-150/400 will accept non-Midland brand accessories such as noise-suppressing headsets when the appropriate adapter plug is used.
