Endress+Hauser Introduces Analytical Platform



Two-parameter transmitter can replace two single-parameter transmitters in analytical sensing applications.

Endress+Hauser introduces the Liquiline CM442, a four-wire, two-parameter transmitter for analytical sensing applications. The Liquiline transmitter accepts data from two sensors and measures any combination of various parameters including but not limited to turbidity/suspended solids, nitrate, SAC (UV254), ISE, dissolved oxygen, pH/ORP, chlorine, concentration and conductivity.

Instead of using two single-parameter transmitters to measure two process variables, users can employ a single Liquiline. This saves money because only one instrument has to be purchased, installed and maintained. It also saves space, and it results in a simpler analytical sensing system.

The CM442 Liquiline transmitter accepts any two Memosens sensor inputs, each with true hot plug-and-play capabilities via a digital interface link. This allows users to interchange sensors at will with immediate sensor recognition. Users can quickly and easily remove and replace each sensor for calibration, diagnostic and other purposes.

For example, if data from any sensor is questionable, it can be replaced with a pre-calibrated sensor. The questionable unit can then be recalibrated and tested in an environmentally controlled location such as a laboratory. Data stored in each Memosens sensor is automatically recognized via the Liquiline hot plug-and-play feature, and simple rapid mechanical installation is provided via an optional M12 connector.

The digital interface link between the Liquiline transmitter and each Memosens sensor allows high-speed two-way communication of various parameters including measured variable, calibration data, sensor diagnostic data and sensor recognition data.

The Liquiline is powered by 100-230Vac 50/60 Hz, 24Vac 50/60 Hz, or 24Vdc. It conforms to Type 4X (IP66/IP67) and is NRTL certified for conformance to UL standard 61010-1 for installation in appropriate environments. It also has a single alarm output, two 4-20mA analog outputs, and a backlit display. Liquiline transmitters can be upgraded to include features such as additional sensors and outputs-or communication options including Profibus, Foundation Fieldbus or Ethernet.

An SD card is provided to transfer setup and other data from one Liquiline transmitter to another. This feature allows quick transmitter change out in the event of a problem, and it also allows multiple Liquiline transmitters to manually share programming data from a master transmitter. In addition, the SD card provides a convenient means to store and transfer data collected by the transmitter to a PC.

New Analytical Sensors

In addition to its existing portfolio of Memosens analytical sensors, Endress+Hauser also announces four new IP68-rated Memosens analytical sensors. Like all Memosens sensors, each is "plug and play" compatible with the Liquiline M CM442:

o Oxymax COS61D is an Optical Dissolved Oxygen sensor based on the luminescence principle of fluorescence quenching. The COS61D sensor has a measuring range of 0-20 mg/l (20 ppm).

o Indumax CLS50D is a non-contacting inductive conductivity sensor based on the toroidal principle of electrodeless conductivity. The CLS50D sensor is capable of measuring from 2µS/cm to 2,000 mS/cm.

o Turbimax CUS51D is a turbidity/suspended solids sensor. CUS51D uses three different measuring principles for optimal adaptation to a wide range of applications. The CUS51D is capable of measuring 0-9,999 NTU/0-150 g/L. The measuring principle is determined automatically (90º, 135º or four-beam pulsed light) to assure optimal adaptation to the user selected application.

o Viomax CAS51D photometric sensor uses the principle of UV absorption for concentration measurement. The CAS51D sensor is available with measuring ranges of 0.1 to 50 mg/l, or 0.01 to 20 mg/l NO3-N. The sensor is easy to maintain, field serviceable, and does not require routine maintenance.

A single Liquiline can replace two single-parameter transmitters in applications where measurement of two analytical variables is required. This increases process uptime and reliability. It also saves time, money and space-and results in a simpler analytical sensing system.
