Innovation Drives Dorner's 2200 Series Conveyor Platform to Increased Dependability and Reliability

HARTLAND, Wis., (Jan 3, 2006) - When a customer needed a conveyor system long enough to get the job done, but couldn't quite fit the drive motor in the usual spots at the ends of the conveyor because of an obstruction, Dorner's Engineer Specials Program proved to be the perfect fit.

ESP is a program that gives extra attention to building conveyors with unique dimensions and characteristics above and beyond the dimensions of Dorner's regular conveyor platforms. So instead of trying to build a conveyor in-house from scratch to make it fit, the customer saved time and money by having people who are conveyor experts, such as the team on Dorner's ESP program, handle the project.

Needing a twin-belt conveyor to best perform the customer's application, Dorner designed the system around its popular selling 2200 Series conveyors with the drive motor located in the center of the longer conveyor. This design element was key because it combined the conveyors into a twin-belt arrangement, allowing for one less drive motor and requiring less space for the conveyors.

Innovations don't stop at the ESP level, however, as Dorner is continually reevaluating its designs and making improvements. For example, the bearings on the 2200 Series conveyor are now installed into a newly redesigned blind housing hole instead of a through hole. This innovation, which protects the bearings from "the outside world" that could prematurely damage or corrode the bearings, significantly adds strength and longevity to the conveyor. The 2200 Series conveyors are engineered to virtually eliminate maintenance. Other features and benefits customers enjoy from the 2200 Series include:

o Instant belt tensioning

o V-guide bed plate and belt for positive belt tracking

o Requires no special tools

o Load capacity up to 80 pounds

o Belt speeds up to 276 feet per minute

o Belt widths between 1.75 and 24 inches

o Conveyor lengths between 18 inches and 18 feet

Innovation and re-engineering of the housing unit to accommodate completely protected bearings on the 2200 Series is another value that customers receive when doing business with Dorner, and it further enhances the company's commitment to being truly responsive.
