Strippit/LVD Introduces ST Series of Thin Turret 20-Ton CNC Punch Presses

Akron, NY-Strippit/LVD introduces the ST Series of CNC turret punch presses offered in a thin-style configuration in two table sizes. Strippit's latest punch presses provide the flexibility to handle short to long production runs, punching and forming applications, and are equipped with advanced features to enhance machine productivity.

The ST 1212 delivers up to 360 hits per minutes on 1" (25,4 mm) centers. It handles workpieces up to 49.2" x 49.2" (1250 x 1250 mm) and material thicknesses up to .250" (6,3 mm). The ST 1225 offers 330 hits per minute on 1" (25,4 mm) centers and can accept workpieces up to 49.2" x 98.4" (1250 x 2500 mm). Both models provide a finished part accuracy of ±.004" (0.1 mm) and a finished part repeatability of ±.002" (0,05 mm).

A stress relieved, one-piece bridge frame and widespread axis bearing system provide exceptional accuracy to meet the tight punching tolerances required today. Side tables move with the material in the Y-axis for maximum support and minimum vibration and scratching. Direct drive axis motors provide tight tolerances.

Superior Punching and Marking Hit Rates
Both ST models are equipped with a high/low servo controlled hydraulic ram system that delivers 20 tons of punching force and provides the highest punching and part marking rates on the market today. Forming rates rival punching rates without sacrificing the reliability of the form quality. Important parameters such as pre- and post-punch delay and dwell are easily accessed and changed to provide optimum forming characteristics.

The exclusive Smart Stroke® feature automatically calculates the optimum ram hover height to maximize punching performance and provide flexibility for punching and forming applications.

Turret Features Four 3.5" (88,9 mm) Stations
ST Series machines feature a 26-station turret with four large 3.5" (88,9 mm) stations. Three of the 3.5" (88.9 mm) stations are auto-indexable and can accept 3.5" (88,9 mm) tooling, indexable Multi-Tools or wheel tooling.

Station-to-station tool change time is as low as 0.7 second. All turret stations are keyed for maximum tool load flexibility and can punch at Y = 0". Replaceable, hardened steel guide bushings eliminate turret tool bore wear.

The turrets of ST machines are gear driven from the outer edge for smooth, precise motion. Shot pin assemblies are also mounted beyond the punch and die locations to optimize alignment at the tool during the punch cycle.

Powerful PC-based Control
Strippit's latest punch presses are equipped with a PC-based GE Fanuc control that speeds set-up and provides powerful features such as full color graphics, advanced "real-time" diagnostics, increased program storage capacity and is network ready for easy transfer of programs from other computers. It also incorporates the patented Smart Clamp(TM) feature that automatically senses clamp locations thereby minimizing "no punch" and "no hover" zones.

Real-time maintenance screens reduce down time. PC technology offers simplicity for operator input of critical tool dimensions. The proper input of tool dimensions eliminates opportunities for slug pulling and sheet pullout and helps to maximize hydraulic ram performance.

Advanced Graphic User Interface
The innovative user interface provides graphic tool images to aid with selections, making entering tool information easier than ever before. The operator interacts with a single graphic screen. No tool measurements or electronic adjustments are necessary for routine punching, forming and even tapping.

Advanced help screens provide a full turret load screen, as well as default input of dimensions for tooling that is "mechanically" adjusted to specification. Each tool is graphically displayed and pre- and post-punch delay and dwell inputs on forming tool records is provided. A program manager screen facilitates the movement of programs from control memory or remote computers.
