Turning Inserts target stainless steel applications.

Press Release Summary:

Developed for KENNA PERFECT turning system, UP Turning Inserts provide soft cutting action and large rake angle, which minimizes cutting resistance, optimizing surface finish on parts and extending tool life. Geometry optimizes resistance to depth-of-cut notching. Available in KC9225(TM), KC9240(TM), and KC5010(TM) grades, inserts are recommended for medical and food industries as well as flange manufacturing, chemical industry, and oil and petrochemical businesses.

Improve Surface Finish in Stainless Steels With New KENNA PERFECT® UP Turning Inserts

(LATROBE, PENNSYLVANIA) -- The new UP turning inserts from Kennametal developed for the KENNA PERFECT turning system represent an improved turning geometry for demanding stainless steel applications.

The new design delivers improved chip control in 300-series stainless steels and provides a soft cutting action that results in lower cutting forces. The large rake angle provides less cutting resistance, which improves both surface finish on parts and extends tool life for increased productivity. The geometry design also improves resistance to a common insert failure: depth-of-cut notching.

The UP geometry is available in the new KC9225(TM), KC9240(TM) and KC5010(TM) grades, and, in combination with the KENNA PERFECT turning system, is recommended for applications in the medical and food industries as well as flange manufacturing, the chemical industry, and oil and petrochemical businesses, or wherever improved cutting performance in stainless steels is required.
